Quick Overview

Silky Saws

Meaning “long sword” in English, the TSURUGI is a unique tree saw that utilizes advanced materials and blade grinding techniques to deliver a durable, super slender “spine of teeth,” designed to cut hard-to-soft wood, even in tight spots!

Thanks to Silky’s creative team, the TSURUGI delivers perhaps the lightest weight, best balanced "big saw” ever produced, having no handle screws, nuts or extraneous hardware to keep it together.  The result is a much more aggressive blade in popular sizes which will still fit into tight crotches without damage to opposing limbs.

Comes in both a straight and curved blade.

Tonni who owns the Tsurugi medium tooth straight blade: W"e are cutting some cherry trees, but there was a branch we could not get to, but the Tsurugi yes. It is a wonderful saw - i love it "

Details

This saw is designed for pruning of small to medium branches. It has a very narrow blade which allows the user to easily get into small spots, such as the fork of a tree or between palm branches. It has a tooth style which will cut dense and sappy timbers with ease. It has a hollow ground blade, which reduces friction when cutting. This allows the cutting stroke to feel very easy and fast.

The teeth are not set, they are what Silky call a Mirai-Me tooth style. This style of tooth creates a very smooth cut which leaves the branch so smooth that it will appear as though it has been given a light sand. This benefits the tree by reducing the chance of water and bacteria sitting in grooves in the timber encouraging infection into the wound. This style of tooth also makes a wider cut in the timber than the width of the blade, therefore reducing the chance of the blade jamming.

The blades are made from a very strong steel. This steel is not only strong but is also quite flexible, which is very important in a hand saw. The blades are also coated to give them some protection from rust and resin. The handles are made out of a special rubber designed by Silky Japan. It is called GOM and it is extremely comfortable to hold. It absorbs a lot of the vibrations you get when cutting and allows you to have a very good grip, even when your hands are damp. The handles on the Tsurugi have Silky's amazing new screw less encasement. So very fast and easy to replace blades. All parts are replaceable, so if you loose anything you can order replacement parts, i.e. screws, blades, scabbards, handles. There is a blade length available for all pruning needs.
